As I said in my last 2 posts, "Avatar" has a soul. James Cameron's tale of Pandora is equivalent to Shakespeare during the 15th or 16th century. Just like Shakespeare's "Hamlet" or "Romeo and Juliet", "Avatar" gets it's soul from it characters, it's story and it's settings (Pandora). I think one of the most important parts of "Avatar"'s soul is the Setting, a.k.a. Pandora. It is such a beautiful planet, yet, once again, Humans are screwing it up. They are only there to mine, and so are destroying the planet, while the natives, the Na'vi, are not defacing the planet to get what they want, but are adapting and using the materials the planet gives them to live. When everyone see's Pandora in "Avatar" they are blown away by how real it looks. It looks like something you would find on our world, Earth, with some minor exceptions (like the Hallelujah Mountains, we especially don't have mountains like those.) Pandora is everything we would want OUR world to look like, lots of trees, clear water, animals everywhere, and so on (Trying not to sound like Greenpeace here...) It is beauty incarnate in a planet, and then, Humans come along and start destroying the planet's face just for a mineral that ONLY costs 20 million a kilo (I'm not putting up a very good point am I, lol). But what really contributes to "Avatar"s soul is Eywa, the deity that the Na'vi worship, the mother of the planet. The Na'vi can contact with her, and so they are one with the lanet, and so love the planet and will protect it with all their hearts, and lives, from the "Sky Walkers" that invaded and started destroying their planet, just for a mineral. Even after destroying all the Green and beauty of their own home planet, the humans come to another planet, just to do the same damn thing. It's shocking after the entire destruction of beauty on one planet, that humans havn't learned or clued in to what they are doing. But with the destrcution of their planet by strip mining, the humans are literally RAPING Pandora, and as a result, Eywa. But of course, the Na'vi fight back to protect their planet, their homes, their lives, and their diety. So, when we, the audiences, see what the Na'vi are doing to protect their planet and their homes, and their way of life, and seeing what the humans are doing, everyone supports the Na'vi, for what they are doing, and completely disregard and hate the humans and what they are doing. It also lets us reflect on what we are doing to our planet and how we can still save it (sorry, sounding like greenpeace). However, the main part of the piece of soul that Pandora gives to "Avatar" is it's beautiful scenery, and it's "Mother". It lets us humans reflect on our past, present and future actions on our planet, and how it affetcs our planet. So, with that, I'll rap up my rant, and think ahead to tomorrow for my next post. (Sorry for the confusing and horrible post here, kinda last minute.)
