So, today, in part 3 of my "Avatar" rant, I would like to talk about the most important piece of "Avatar"s soul is it's Characters. I'm going to have to do different posts each day to fit in all I want to say about each individual character that is significant in this movie. The easiest character to start with is one everyone found aweing and inspiring. Jake Sully. A man who was a marine (right there we know he's going to be badass) and is also a parapelegic, (in a wheelchair for those who don't understand big words, lol) and also just lost his brother, which gave him the opportunity to go to Pandora in his brother's place. When Jake gets there, he's torn between being what his brother was supposed to be, a scientist, and Jake's past ties to the U.S.M.C. Starting off as a guard for his soon to be friends, Grace and Norm, Jake, by a freak accident, meets Neytiri, and is blessed by Eywa. thus causing him to be inducted into one of the Na'vi tribes. From there, Jake comes to stop remembering his past ties as a marine, and focuses on learning from Neytiri, who is teaching him the ways of the Na'vi by consult of her mother. Jake makes some mistakes, and later both he, his friends, and the Na'vi end up paying for it. But, as in all stories, Jake comes from this major blow, and helps the Na'vi cast the "Sky Walkers" from their planet. However, what everyone enjoys seeing about Jake, and how his character adds to "Avatar"s soul, is how he is a diehard marine and human, to becoming one of the Na'vi, falling in love with both Neytiri, and Pandora, and casting aside his human ways, for the way of the Na'vi. It's simply beautiful seeing Jake mature to becoming what we all like, ( and some of us even envy...). Without Jake's character, there would be a HUGE piece of "Avatar"s soul missing, an with that I'll rap up my rant. (Not as long as ususal, sorry) Tomorrow, I will talk about how Neytiri is another main contributer to "Avatar"s soul. Until tomorrow, chow!
